123 Color
by Steve Glinberg
SALE!!! SALE!!! SALE!!! Who doesn’t like a sale? 123 color is on sale today, Feb. 1st in recognition for being rated the #1 Art App for Kids by Babble.com. For those with toddlers, it is a MUST have!!! My son is addicted to it. 123 Color is like the paint by numbers that we had as kids. Except now with the help of technology kids can now color, recognize their letters (upper and lower case), and numbers.
For this particular version as you enter the app you are greeted with falling snow and 4 types of coloring books. If you happen to be either a parent or a teacher reading this review, you can put your mind at ease if you follow the same criteria as I do when I download an app. Without evening realizing it your little Van Gogh is learning and also having a lot of fun. Within the settings, a parent or teacher can set a number of options: language, coloring options, type of artwork to be shown, sound and yes, even music. Integrated arts at its best!!! Don’t worry if your pre-schooler is just learning his/her letters or numbers. 123 Color has made accommodations for such users.
Beginners – choose a coloring book, select a page. Is your student/child unsure of what a letter or number is? Just click on the number/letter in the coloring page and the color bar at the bottom will scroll to the correct section. Once found, the user should click the color at the bottom and click its match in the picture. Once all numbers/letters have disappeared, the user will see an amazing master piece that they designed!!!
Masters – choose a coloring book, select a page. Has your child mastered their numbers/letters? This user will be able to scroll through the color bar at the bottom matching each dot on the page. Regardless of beginner or master, the user will be thrilled with their results. Each time my son finishes he shares his image with whomever is around and begins dancing around to the reinforcement music once the picture is complete!
As I mentioned earlier, since having downloaded this app, 123 Color has made a number of updates. Through feedback from users and those others that have reviewed this app, they are clearly listening!! One of the most recent updates that I have seen is the ability to now print pictures, email them or even save them to your photos app.
